There are currently 10 seats guaranteed in the Best Picture category, which was changed a few years ago with the goal of expanding the field following rule modifications.
It’s widely believed that films like “Openheimer,” “Barbie,” “Killers of the Flower Moon,” “Pure Things,” and “The Holdovers” will all be nominated.
“Maestro,” “Anatomy of a Fall,” “The Zone of Interest,” “Past Lives,” and “American Fiction” are also viewed as favourites and strong candidates to go up for the academy’s most coveted honours.
Some candidates, like “The Colour Purple,” “Society of the Snow,” “All of Us Strangers,” and “Me in December,” could, nevertheless, easily earn nominations in the top category.
Additionally, there has been in recent days a campaign – similar to the one that earned Andrea Riseborough a surprising acting nomination last year – to garner recognition for “Origin” at the Oscars, especially after being overlooked in several previous ceremonies.
